PARTY POKER GRAND PRIX
By John Lowe, Jul 31 2015 07:37AM
The Party Poker Grand Prix of Darts will start on the 4th October through the 10th from The City West Dublin, 16 players from the PDC Order of Merit table alongside 14 qualifiers from the Pro-Tour Order of Merit. The order of Merit table is very close indeed around the 16 mark, Barney is in 16th place with £186.250, Van Der Voort is just £3,250 behind and Justin Pipe a further £7,000 adrift, Stephen bunting is £12,000 away in 19th place, so expect things to change dramatically over the next few months at the bottom end, Barney needs to find some good results to stay in touch, he is ranked 41st in the Pro-Tour table which would mean if he slips below the top 16 in the main tour table he would not qualify for events like the Grand Prix, because 12 of the players in the Pro-Tour are already included in the Grand Prix it means players as far down as 28 will make the starting line, sounds a little complicated but it is not really, it goes to show it is important for players who compete on the main tour to also have a good ranking position on the Pro-Tour, it's like having insurance should you find yourself in a position like Barney. The Grand Prix has thrown up some interesting draws and surprising first round defeats in the past, will it happen again?.
