TAYLOR THROUGH BUT IT'S LEWIS WHO SHINES
By John Lowe, Dec 29 2015 08:38AM
Phil Taylor beat Kevin Painter 4-1 last night but it was a mixed bag of events, Painter took the 1st set 3-1 and should have gone 2-1 sets in front but 4 missed set winning darts cost him dearly, he didn't recover from that set back and Taylor took advantage even though his own double throwing was way below par at 27%, however he goes through and the closer he gets to the last few in the race to become champion the more dangerous he becomes.
Adrian Lewis was in a hurry to put Andrew Gilding out and he did it in fine style winning 4-0, Gilding won just 2 legs and could do nothing to stop Lewis who had the second highest average of the tournament at 103-52, on this form he could be on his way to a big JACKPOT.
Peter Wright looked very comfortable and confident against Ronny huybrechts winning 4-0, which included 9 maximums, Wright is many peoples favourite to lift the trophy on Sunday, if this match was any pointer they could well be right.
Mensur Suljovic battled all the way against David Pallett finally beating him 4-3.
Mark Webster found his form against Terry Jenkins winning 4-0, Jenkins did have a chance to take the 2nd set but then it was one sided to the Welshman.
Alan Noris showed his fire power in his win over Joe Murnan hitting 11 maximums and a 4-1 win.
Tuesday's pick of the matches will be the all dutch clash between Michael Van Gerwen and Raymond Van Barnaveldt, miss it if you dare.
