Michael Van Gerwen came from behind in the final of the German Darts Masters against Peter Wright, at 3-1 in front Wright looked set to win his first major TV event, but MVG stepped up the presure to draw level at 4-4, Wright did have another chance to level the match and take it to the deciding leg but missed double 16, MVG went on to retain the title and pick up the £25,000 winners cheque with a 70 out shot.
There where earlier shocks in the tournament when Joe Cullen took out reigning World champion Gary Anderson 6-0, and Chris Dobey almost upset the form book when he produced the match of his life against MVG taking him to a last leg decider.
MVG makes it 10 European Tour Victories with his win in Germany.

Robert Thornton took 3 points out of a possible 4 in his 2 matches at the Echo Arena in Liverpool last night in the Premier League, first he defeated Michael Smith 7-5 in a very close match, then he made a draw with World No1 Michael Van Gerwen in the last match of the night, this put him 1 point ahead of Smith and Chisnall at the bottom of the league.
Gary Anderson continued his good form with a 7-4 win over Chisnall with a 103 average, Adrian Lewis beat Barney 7-5 in a tight game that looked to be heading for a draw.
Phil Taylor and Peter Wright finished up 6-6, Wright was never in front and at 6-5 to Taylor a win seemed a certainty, but 3 match winning darts at doubles cost Taylor dearly, Wright finished on a superb 111 and he had everything to play for, Wright was first to the double in the deciding leg and he took out double 18 for a draw and 1 point, his first for a few weeks.
Next week is judgement night, 2 players will drop out of the league, Smith and Chisnall have 3 points Thornton 4, above them is Barney on 6 points which makes him safe, at the top we have MVG, Taylor and Anderson all on 12 points.

The big match of the night was between Michael Van Gerwen and Phil Taylor, but it didn't go to plan for MVG, at 5-1 up he looked to have the match all but won, but Taylor somehow fought back to 6-4 when disaster struck for MVG, 3 missed match darts at doubles allowed Taylor to close to 6-5 and then go on and take the 12th leg with a 81 finish, match drawn, points shared and level at the top of the table with 11 points each.
Gary Anderson was playing in front of his Scottish home crowd, due to an illness in week 1 of the P.L. it meant he would be playing 2 matches to catch up, an advantage some would say, especially with such massive crowd support, but he still had to win, and while the big 2 where picking up 1 point each Anderson was climbing the table fast, a first match win against Adrian Lewis 7-4 and a 7-5 win against Peter Wright meant Gary had taken all 4 points and leapt into 3rd pl;ace just 1 point off the lead, true to say he had his share of good fortune against Wright who could not finish to earn a draw, but that was the story of the night following Taylor's let of by MVG.
James Wade beat Robert Thornton 7-4 in a close match, it was clear to see Thornton was trying his best to get his season going, with an average of 101 it must be frurstating not to get a result, he does have a lifeline knowing he will be playing 2 matches next week, a good performance could make a massive difference.
Barney beat Dave Chisnall 7-4 with a good performance averaging 104.90, the 2 points earned keeps him 3 points ahead of the bottom 3, the fight for survival begins in earnest next week, with just 2 matches left before 2 players will drop out, Thornton is bottom with 1 point with a game in hand, Smith and Chisnall have 3 points each.

It was back on the road again for myself and a host of Legends on Saturday night, Eric Bristow, Keith Deller, Cliff Lazarenko, Bobby George, Peter Manley and myself all at Jacks Bar in Wolverhampton, John Gwynne was the MC and host for the night, 200 spectators enjoyed a feast of darting enteratinment, it was a truly great night, well organised, well accepted and rewarding to know the guys who started the darting revolution many years ago are still able to entertain.

Phil Taylor went top of the Premier League table for a while in Nottingham last night, of course MVG was playing last ! the standard of play was quite amazing, no less than 7 players out of the 10 averaged over 100 per throw, first was Gary Anderson who beat Michael Smith 7-3 with a good all round performance, and with a game in hand Gary will fancy his chances to be in contention to retaining his title. Adrian Lewis beat Peter Wright 7-3 in a match much closer than the score-line suggests, both players averaged over 100.
James Wade beat Barney 7-5 but made hard work of it, after being 5-1 in front, he allowed Barney back in and was lucky to get the win when Barney missd 3 darts to take a point, again both players averaged over 100.
Robert Thornton lost to Phil Taylor 7-0 and to be honest played like the player bottom of the league with 1 point, Robert has been ill and is not back to any where near his best, but Taylor seems to have found some of his old form and looks to be enjoying his darts.
MVG beat Dave chisnall 7-2 and climbed back to the top of the table, be it on leg difference, his avergae of 113-47 was by far the highest of the night and his finishing average of 54% was what made that average so high, it is obvious though that the other players realise they have to play at a higher standard if they are going to stay with MVG.
Next week's P.L. is in Glasgow and the 2 players at the top of the table play each other; Mighty Michael Van Gerwen v Phil The Power Taylor, Taylor says he is looking forward to playing Michael, MVG's reply: Really !

Most people know Darts has been my life and it still plays a big part of it now, my second passion for many years has be Golf, I have been fortunate to have played courses around the world and in recent years I have been able to put my name as a darting celebrity into good use, hosting and presenting golf events at home and abroard, my charity golf day in Tenerife is in it's 12 year and I am proud to say it has raised over 60,000 Eur for AMATE Breast Cancer Care, a few weeks ago I was asked by a friend who runs MW Entertainmnets if I would front a golf day in the UK for "Scotty's Little Soldiers" a charity dedicated to supporting children of the fallen, I instantly said yes, although we are raising funds to help the charity, we also thought it fitting that the golf day should be a tribute to Lee Rigby, the Fusilier who was brutally murdered in London, I secured The Chesterfield Golf Club, my home club to host the day and we set a date for 22nd August 2016, the response to date has been amazing, the 26 teams needed have been taken, my good friend David Sheriff at Nova Tours is the main sponsor, Vauxall Motors and Morrison's Super Market are on board and we still have 6 months to go, we are now offering companies and individuals the opportunity to sponser a tee, for £100 they can place their banner on the chosen tee, hand out point of sale to the 104 golfers as they come through, even off er a drink if so minded, or just pay to have their name in the programme that sponsoring a tee includes, we also have nearest the pin awards that need sponsoring, 4 in total, and we are looking for Auction lots and Raffle prizes, Can you help ?
If you want to be a part of this amazing fund raiser for "Scotty's Little Soldiers" then mail me at email@example.com
