My "Let's Play Darts for McMillan Nurses Tour" resumes today at The Malta Inn Harpenden, after the initial date in December at Offlay Club, when £1,118-00 was raised by 65 people, we took a break for the festive season and a Holiday, now we start again with a series of 6 events over the next few months, McMillan Nurses are a voulantary organisation that give 24 hour care to Cancer Sufferes, they do a magnificent job, and the UK would be a lot worse off without them, I have not been surprised at the support this tour is receiving, but have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the people who attend the exhibitions, my fellow professionals are also contributing, Cliff Lazarenko, Eric Bristow, Keith Deller, Dennis Priestly and Bob Anderson have all commited to joining me at venue's in the future, Unicorn Products have made the McMillan Dart Flight, and every penny from the sales will go to the charity, The Holiday Inn Markyate are providing rooms, also The Bell at Codicote, FFS are a main sponsor, and many others have commited, DIY SOS TV Star Billy Byrne is making a special appearance at Digswell, this will certainly add to the success of the show, and Big Dave Talliss is giving his time to MC the shows Free, the journey begins today at The Malta, and there is no limit to the number of exhibitions we will arrange, we do have a special day on the 28th of August, when we will swap the darts for Golf Clubs, 30 teams will take part in my charity Golf classic at The Chesterfield Golf Club in Derbyshire, this will be sponsored by NOVA TOURS and I am sure we will raise considerable funds for McMillan, I will keep you updated with our progress, if you would like to join us by way of booking an exhibition, then contact me direct at jloweprodrt@aol.com.

I took delivery of my Unicorn Smartboard this week, and I have to say it's a superb product, I have an Eclipse HD2 Traditional Board in my office, the Board used in all PDC Tournaments on Telivision, the clearest Dart Board in production today, my game has improved in recent months and I would like to think that's down to me, but in all honesty it is down to the modern board which does have larger target area's down to the razer thin wires, the Smartboard was never intended to replace the HD2, it is a Board made to bring social Darts back for everyone, it compliments any surrounding with it's striking colours, and the beauty of it is, you do not have to write down the scores, you connect the board to your tablet/phone by an App, sellect the game you want to play, and off you go, you can play a variety of games, all you have to remember is to press the smartbutton with your dart after each players turn, you can use any darts, any weight, and the board is smart enough to tell you when to turn it. For the first time in many long years I have put a Dart Board in my living area, albeit the Bar, it's almost finished, but I could not resist showing you the progress

Week 2 of the Premier League in nottingham produced plenty of legs for the spectators, no less than 53, Lewis beat Chisnall 7-2 and looks to be in good form, although he says he is not playing well, Chisnall is pointless after 2 weeks, Wade and Taylor drew 6-6, a fair result in a even match, Anderson beat Klaasen 7-3, Wright lost to Van Gerwen 7-3, and it could have been 7-0 but for 3 missed darts by Gerwen, but credit to Wright for pulling back from a near whitewash to take 3 legs, Huybrects drew 6-6 with Barney in game that saw each player swop the lead a few times, a draw was a fair result.

Everyone knows I do not like draw's and think they should not happen, they make the matches dull, flat, and meaningless, one more leg would make all the difference to the match, and all the difference to the spectators who pay good money to see a winner.

When my good friend Gary Ewington asked if I would join with him and raise funds for the McMillan Nurses, I had no hesitation saying yes, Gary has been a cancer patient for a few years, he has had countless operations, many sleepless nights not knowing what tomorrow may bring, he recognises the support McMillan give to people like him, and he want's to give something back, so here we are, the first show will be at the Malta Inn Harpendon on the 19th Fabruary, then we maove on to the Bull, Knebworth RBL and the Swan, all on the poster, we will launch the McMillan Dart Flight, made exculsively by Unicorn all proceeds will go to the charity, we have FFC on board, and Holiday Inn, but we have plenty of room for more affiliate sponsors, so if you would like to join us in our efforst to raise much needed funds, either by booking a show at your outlet, or providing raffle and auction prizes, a meal for four, a coach trip, a four ball at your golf club, a holiday, anything and everything will be appriceiated, then contact me at: jloweprodart@aol.com

Michael Van Gerwen was crowned William Hill World Darts Champion at Ally Pally last night, the final between Van Gerwen and the defending Champion Gary Anderson proved all it had been billed up to be, sets racked up quickly from 2 players with almost identical throwing speed, maximums came like rainfall, 42 of them, 22 going to Anderson, the first 4 sets shared before Van Gerwen opened a 4 set lead, Anderson pulled a set back making it 6-3, the 10th set was level at 2 legs each, but when the chance came to MVG to add the most pretigious title of all to the 25 he had already won in 2016 he did not make any mistake, taking out 85 on the centre Bull. As finals go this will be ranked one if not the best, both players reaching height's not thought possible a few years ago, a wonderful advertisment for our sport from 2 exceptional players.
