Dave Chisnall was in fine form at the players championship in Barnsley yesterday after his disappointing loss in the sem-final of the Premier League to Gary Anderson, two 6-5 wins against Joey Ten Berge and Steve Hind settled him down then it was onward and upward all the way, Handy Hamilton 6-3 David Pallett 6-1, next Ronnie Baxter who had put Phil Taylor out 6-2 followed by Michael Smith with an average of 101-39, next Nigel Hayden 6-4 to reach the semi-final. His opponent in the final was Ian White who beat Jamie Lewis in his semi-final 6-3 including a 9 dart leg, White could not match Chisnall's power play going down 6 legs to 1, Chisnall picked up £10,000 for his win and increased the publics amazement at his glaring omission by the PDC from the Dubai Darts Masters next week.

After 15 weeks of Premier League play Gary Anderson was crowned champion at London's O2 arena in front of 11,000 fans, he didn't win without a little good luck though, in his semi-final against Dave Chisnall he was looking at defeat with the match at 9-9 Chisnall left 32 after 12 darts then amazingly missed D16 D8 and D4 to let the Scott back to the Oche and a 116 out shot meant Anderson was in the final.
The second semi-final between Barney and MVG was a close match, both players averaging over 100, drama struck in the 10th leg when Barney needed D12 to throw the first 9 dart game in this seasons P.L. he missed and MVG stepped in to try and steal the leg on 161 only to miss the centre Bull, Barney returned and took the leg in 10 darts, 6-4, Barney takes the next leg to go 7-4 in front but that's when fortunes changed and MVG took the next 5 legs, Barney pulled back to 9-8 to keep his hopes alive only to see MVG take out D4 and book his place against Anderson in the final.
The final was when Anderson came into his best, after the lucky escape against Chisnall he was determined not to find himself in the same position again, it did take him 3 legs to find his finishing ability, then he never lost control of the match, at 6-3 Anderson had taken 6 out of 7 legs, MVG threw an 11 dart leg to reduce the gap to 7-5 but could not manage to get back on level terms, Anderson always finding the edge to stay 2 legs clear, in the 17th leg he took out 96 to move within one leg of the title and he followed up with a 64 out shot to win 11-7.
Anderson was the better player on the night but he will always remember that miss by Chisnall that could have changed everything

Tonight the last 4 players in the Premier League will battle for who will become Champion, and one thing is for sure there will not be any draws !
Gary Anderson will play Dave Chisnall and Barney will play MVG, both semi-finals are best of 19 legs, the first to 10 the winner, the final will be over the best opf 21 legs, the first to 11 will become Champion. The longer format will be welcome by all players and it leaves no excuses for not not being able to make all three matches ones to remember, they all know each others capabilities after playing in the 14 week league, now all they have to do is to be at their best, the winner will take home £200,000.

Some sad news arrived this morning, Kevin White the Australian dart player passed away this morning, Kevin was a frequent visitor to BDO championships, he reached the semi-final of the World Masters in 1976 and in 1982, but he will always be remembered for his magnificent win playing with his pairs partner George Foster in the Unicorn World Pairs in 1976, I was privileged to know Kevin as a friend as well as a player, we enjoyed many friendly chats over a few beers both in the Uk, Australia and a couple of World Cups, Kevin represented Australia in a fine way and will be sadly missed. Goodbye dear friend.

The biggest incentive for a nine dart game since the very first on the 13th October 1984 in the MFI World Matchplay which was completed by myself earning me £102,000, will be on offer at this years Dubai Masters.
THE stars of the Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters will be playing for a special prize in this months event, with sponsors SIXT Rent a Car offering a Mercedes-Benz car for the first player who lands a nine-darter!
The year's opening World Series of Darts event will see eight top stars competing on Thursday May 28 and Friday May 29 at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium.
Michael van Gerwen has been crowned as the Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters champion for the past two years, and will be bidding to claim a title hat-trick against Phil Taylor, Gary Anderson, Adrian Lewis, Peter Wright, James Wade, Raymond van Barneveld and Stephen Bunting.
As well as the coveted title, the players will also be competing for the chance to win an all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA 250, which will be presented by SIXT Rent a Car.
This could well be the difference that produces the perfect game on TV something we have seen come so close in the Premier League this season, I am a little surprised to see the line up for this event, MVG, Taylor, Anderson, Lewis, Wright and Wade are the top 6 in the order of merit, but Barney is ranked 13 in the order of merit and 36 on the Pro-Tour, Bunting 21 in the Merit table and 20 on the Pro-Tour, I feel sure there will be a few disgruntled players like Whitlock, Chisnall, Thornton, Dolan, Jenkins and White to name a few who are above both players in both tables, especially Chisnall who could be the Premier League winner on Thursday, sometimes invitations are the norm and acceptable but to overlook so many higher ranked players will leave a sour taste and rightly so.

We expected good games in The Brighton Centre for the last matches before the play off's in the Premier League and the players did not disappoint. Phil Taylor playing in his last game in the league against James Wade who was also playing his last match produced one of his better performances of this seasons campaign, averaging 108 but more important a 70% average on the doubles, 7 out of 10 attempts.
Barney played bunting next and was looking for a win to take him above Anderson should Anderson lose, it was a close match both players averaging over 100 but one break of throw was enough to secure the 7-4 win for Barney and for a short while he was in 3rd place.
Lewis v Anderson was expected to be another high scoring match, but it was Anderson's finishing that was much the better of Lewis and he came out a 7-3 winner with a 97 average and was back into 3rd spot.
We often say "that was a great match" refering to a 108 average and a 7-1 win for the like of Taylor and MVG, but when 2 players go head to head and only a 108 finish could earn a draw we know we have watched a truly great match one not to be forgotten, table topper Michael Van Gerwen and second place player Dave Chisnall produced such a match last night, a loss for MVG would see Chisnall finish top, a draw would mean the table would stay the same and MVG would go into the play off's for the 3rd year running the top player. The match had everything, high scoring 56 scores of 100 and over, 9 maxiimums and both players averaging over 60% on the doubles, at 5-5 we thought the leg was coming to an end when MVG wanted 170 and hit the 2 treble 20's then narrowly missed the centre bull leaving 25, Chisnall had to finish on 161 to go into the lead for the first time and that is exactly what he did. MVG now needed to win the next leg to grab a draw and stay top of the league, Chisnall hit his 4th maximum but could only watch as MVG takes out 108 and with it the draw. a truly amazing match from both players, MVG 111-90 avergae. Chisnall 106-01. Class.
This time next week and we will kno who the Premier League champion for 2015 will be, the two dutch players MVg and Barney will face each other in one semi-final, Barney is on a unbeaten run of 8 matches and will go into the match knowing he can and has beaten the World no1 quite a few times, the format will increase though and that may give MVG the edge if he can finish clean, Anderson and Chisnall face each other in the other semi-final, again we know both players are capable of sustained high scoring, finishing may again be the deciding factor, the stage is set for 3 great matches, non of the players have anything to lose at this stage and everything to play for.
