Raymond Van Barnaveldt put up a magnificent show against World Champion Gary Anderson in Manchester last night, Barney knew anything but a draw would see him leave the Premier League and that is what he acheived under the greatest of pressure from Anderson who averged 108.83, Barney can now concentrate on closing the gap on the top 4 which stands at 3 points and is within his capabilities.
The two players eliminated from the league are Huybrechts and Wright, Huybrechts could only manage a draw against a resilient Bunting while Wright lost 7-4 to a determined Lewis who for once looked like he was ready for the challenge. The opening match of the night between MVG and Wade went to the Dutchman 7-4 and keeps his unbeaten run in the league going, both players averaged over 100 but MVG's finishing was the better.
Phil Taylor went 3 legs to 0 up in his match against Dave Chisnall and looked to be on his way to victory, but missed doubles something we never did associate with Taylor cost him dearly, in one leg he missed double top, double ten and the five to let Chisnall in, at 4-4 Chisnall went up a gear and produced his best darts winning the next 3 legs and the match.
The night however belonged to Barney, not only did he secure his place in the remaining fixtures of the league but probably more so his place in future Premier Leagues.

Private development mining company Caoltrac who are checking the viability of opening the Markham Mine, (long time closed ) by using a footrill with the entrance on the west side of the M1 Motorway, found to their surprise a dartboard and two sets of John Lowe Tungsten darts not far from the coalface they intend to reopen some 800 feet below ground, remarkably chalk marks displaying the scores could be visibly seen on the black coalface walls, the darts have been confirmed John's from the barrel shape and the Unicorn Rainbow flights he used in the late 70's, Caoltrac spokesman Paul McEllery said he was never aware miners played darts down the mine but could clearly see how they were able to see the board with the miners light that was attached to their helmet making a almost perfect spot light. No wonder Dennis Bradbury was always on form when he played for us, he would come straight from the afternoon shift around 8pm have a couple of pints, coal dust still in his eyes and win his leg of 501 week in week out, we didn't know he had been throwing darts down the mine, he never let on !

Thursday night is Judgement time for these five players and for two in particular who will exit the rest of this seasons Premier League, I could not help thinking how appropriate the words from the pop group The Clash in 2007 are:
"One day is fine and next is black
so if you want me off your back
well come on an let me know
should I stay or should I go"
I am sure the spectators in Manchester will let the guys know who they want to stay, all the players can do is play their best and hope they do not need another player to lose to stay in the league, three of these players will stay but who will go ?
