The pace is hotting up at the Grand Slam of Darts at Wolves, as the final group games commence tonight Bunting, Smith, King, Noris, Chisnall and Barney are already confirmed in the top 16, it will take a miracal for Taylor not to join them, he has a +9 leg win, he set the highest average in the competition to date beating Christian Kist 5-1 with a average of 114.65 per three darts thrown, Bunting was right up there with an average of 102.73 in his win over Gary Anderson, Barney is through with a 90.38 average, there are a few vital matches left to decide the second place in each group and no doubt some will be decided on the leg win statistic, once that is decided we are in the straight knockout stage of the event and with it loads of drama I am sure.

Photographs don't tell lies but they are great to look back on, that was the days when we had our photographs developed not put on disks and stored away in containers, I don't think my Movember effort will turn out so grand, but it may help.

By John Lowe, Nov 7 2014 05:37PM

I have joined the Movember group, yes, my upper lip is starting to sprout, this is the movement started to bring awareness to mens illness like Cancer and Mental Health, the rules are simple, no early start, November 1st start date November 30th end date, no beards, no goatees, to join me or to donate follow on my Facebook and Twitter page.

The Singa Beer Grand Slam of Darts begins Friday 8th November at Wolverhampton Civic Hall and with £400,000 in prize money up for grabs the players have plenty to aim for, Micheal Van Gerwen is the firm favourite with the bookmakers having won three events in October, the format of this tournament starts with eight groups and although the format is short it does give a player the opportunity to lose a match and still qualify for the second round stage, after the first matches in each group the winners will play the losers on the same group, the two winners of that round will play the final and progress to round two, this is the event put together by the PDC to encourage players from both divides to compete together on equal terms, in the past many BDO players have turned down the invitation to take part but the ever increasing amount of prize money available on the PDC circuit has been the deciding factor, the Grand Slam gives every player the opportunity to perform at their very best and the group format gives a chance for a sloppy first round loss to be overcome, predicting who will come through the group stages is probably the toughest ever and I can see a upset or two, we have eight days of interesting viewing, bring on the SINGA.

James Wade completed an amazing win in the final of the Unibet Masters in Scotland after being 9-2 down to Merv King he somehow managed to win 11-10, it was great Television viewing but rather less so for King who wasted chance after chance to put the match to bed and pick up the cheque for £50,000, King wasted no less than 8 match winning darts in the latter stages of the final but no one can take it away from Wade, he kept going even though the the task looked impossible. Wade defeated Taylor in the semi-final by the margin of one and King took out the world champion MVG in the other semi. Next event The Grand Slam.

The Unibet Masters will take place at the Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh this weekend, the top 16 PDC players will bid for the title, top draw in round one is Micheal Van Gerwen v Raymond Van Barnaveld, will this be the fourth event in a row for MVG or will Taylor bounce back ? it will all be good viewing and even better to be there, for ticket information click on the PDC log on this site.
