On the 27th June 2015 Eric Bristow, Keith Deller, Peter Manley and myself will by playing at the Norwich City Football Club in aid of the Norwich Community Foundation Charity, it will be a great night, VIP and standard tickets available from the club now. For me it will be a reunion with friends made over many years, I first visited Norwich in the late 70's and I have to say if ever I was to move from my beloved Chesterfield, Norwich would have been my first choice, not because they have a church for every day of the year and just as many pubs, but because I made friends that became everlasting friends, I could tell many stories about our many exhibition nights they all had something to remember and it wasn't always the darts, but most notable was on the 10th October 1984, I had been in Norwich for a week playing exhibitions around the area, I was staying with Eddy Harvey at his Stacey Hotel, we had been invited by one of the prominent night club owners to attend the opening of his new club, I said yes if we could leave no later than midnight, all was ageed but as the saying goes all well laid plans !!!!! we finished up back at Eddy's at around 4am, I had to be up early to get to Slough for the start of the World Masters that night, I had a couple of hours sleep and left, reminding Eddy if I lost it was his fault for keeping me out late, once at Slough I had a quick nap and headed off for the venue, the Fulcrum Centre, needless to say the next three days where the most memorable of my career, in fact my life, after winning on the Friday night I went on to play Keith Deller on the Saturday afternoon and record the first 9 dart game on TV, it did not stop there I beat Bob anderson in the semi-final and Cliff Lazarenko in the final on Sunday, so what turned out to be a very unexpected, not much chance tournament, became the talking point of world darts and sport in general, of course Eddy rang me to say if it wasn't for him and his recreational event I wouldn't have been so relaxed.

The 27th June 2015 will have a great line up, but for me it will be the Norwich Big Reunion, see you there my friends.

Len Worrall one of the most respected persons in the sport of darts passed away this week, Len lived in Edmanton Alberta Canada with his wife Leta, both of them loved the sport of darts and traveled world wide supporting the Canadian Team, I first met Len and Leta in england at the World Masters way back in 1977, we became good friends and met up annualy at the North american Open, first in LA at Long Beach and later Las Vegas, we joined the RHADT Royal Hawaian All Star Darting Team and enjoyed some memorable times. Len was awarded many honours by the Edmanton Goverment for his contribution to sport and in particular darts, Karen and myself stayed at the Worrell's house for a few days and they welcomed us like family, Len has suffered ill helath over the past couple of years but he fought to the end, the end of a chapter in Canada and World Darts, goodbye Len Worrall my friend.

13th October 1984 the MFI World Matchplay in Slough, the day darting history was made. I was playing against Keith Deller in the quarter final it was the second set and the second leg, I opened with a maximum 180 and followed with another, the buzz around the Fulcrum Centre was like a fire had been lit and the air was full of tension and excitment there had not been many times on Television that someone had hit back to back maximums never mind finishing the remaining score of 141, I had imagined myself in this position many times and even the way I would go about finishing, I was positive in my approach to the task, eyes trained on T17, thud, the first part over, eyes lifted to the T18, thud, second part over, eyes a little higher to the D18, I launched the dart on it's way to the target and instantly raised my arm in triumph. I knew the moment it left my hand it would hit the target and finish the game, the perfect game of 501 in 9 darts, history was made, that day changed the way darts was perceived, it elevated the sport to equal with other sports, the £102,000 I received for being the first player to record it on TV was more than the Wimbledon winner collected and more than the Open Golf Champion collected, it was the single highest amount won in sport in the UK that year. Everyone who was present that Saturday afternoon in Slough will rightly relive the experience today and be able to say "I was there" Cheers.

The Pride of Britain Awards was on our screen last night, I remember many years ago in the late 80's being presented a gold star at the same awards, it was an amazing day in the company of some fine people, but the guy who stole the day was young Ben pictured at the front, he lost both his fee in a accident when very young but was walking again with the help of artificial feet by the time he was three, a true inspiration.

One for your diary, a great night for a good cause and a chance for friends old and new to meet up at a fine venue, The Shamrock Club has been holding darts events for many years, my first visit was in 1982 playing for Derbyshire against Hertfordshire in the BDO Inter County League, my good friend the late Willie Etherington and his notable side kick Tony Bell, taxi driver elite and just as accomplished dart player where both there, Dennis Ovens and his wife Kathy both honed their darting skills there, Yes, the Shamrock Club is steeped in darting history lets make this a fine addition to that list.

John Lowe. three times champion of the world in three seperate decades, the 70's, the 80's and the 90's, the first player in the history of the sport to achieve the perfect game of 501 on Television, in 1984, winning £102,000, winner of over 1000 titles world wide, simply: The Legend of Darts.
