Fitness can be the big difference to being still in the tournament at the top 8 stage, or being out at the top 16 stage, darts events can sometimes go on for a long time, if you are travelling to the event on the same day, you may have to rise at 6am or even earlier, drive for a few hours, practiose for anothet hour, then wait until your match time arrives, this can be tiring, and if you are out of condition, deadly to your chances of proceeding through the field, when I was competing on the full circuit, I would consciously try to keep in good shape, I play golf whenever I can and feel this helps, especially when you consider it is around 3 miles walking, but I found excerise in the gym a great supplement to the golf, I found a routine that suited me fine, and stuck to it everytime, It is important to get the oxygen flowing through your body at the atsrt of any routine, so I would use the fixed cycle for ten minutes, or take a brisk walk on the treadmill, or start on the rowing machine, my favourite, at level 8 for five minutes, then I use a series of weight disciplines, I only do 12 reps:
Abdominal 12 set at 42 pounds
Seated Row .........................
Lat Pull Down ..........................
Chest Press ..........................
Hip Abductor ..........................
Inner & Outer
Arm Extension ........................
Pectoral Fly .........................
Rear Rolloer ..........................
I will finish of on the treadmill set at level eight - Random.
This was my routine at least 4 times a week, I have since changed to using a Vibroplate at home, 10 minutes each day suits me well, and trust me you can feel the difference it makes, excerise may not be for everyone, but if you want to reach those semi-finals, and go on to be a winner, being unfit, overweight, leads to dehydration, lack of concentration, and ultimately, defeat.

I have had a few players contact me asking, when they throw their dart, it does not go where they are aiming, why ? the answer is simple, you do not aim a dart, you take your stance, gripping the dart correctly, held slightly under the eye line, then you fix your eyes (Both of them) onto the target area, concentrate on that area only, then you release the dart at the area you are looking at, a dart will only go where you are looking, I hear you, why does my dart go into the big three then, when I am looking at the twenty, again simple, you are not letting your arm follow through to the target area, you are letting it drop after releasing the dart, I must repeat again: you do not aim a dart, look at the target, and throw the dart towards it, it is called: Hand, Eye, Coordination, both working together, for a visual explanation, take a look at my App, for iphone, The Art of Darts, and remember, darts is a simple game to play, follow the guide lines, and you will enjoy playing.

Comic Relief is a charity in the UK consisting of entertainers, who's aim is to raise money for many worthy causes, the children of Africa are one of the biggest beneficiary's from the charity, vaccines to stop malaria, tuberculosis, and many more diseases, at a relatively small cost of around £5.00, a mosquito net, that can keep deadly viruses away, clean drinking water, and schooling, all part of the fund raising, whilst quite a lot of the money raised does go to overseas causes, a lot of funds go to special needs in the UK, Comic Relief has grown from a small fund raising, one day event, into the biggest fund raiser in the UK, it's logo image, is a Red Nose, and thousands wear one at some time on main day, I took my grand child, James, to school yesterday, I was amazed how many of the children had coloured their hair Red, put on Red trousers, or a Red dress, it made me realise, if you indoctrinate the young, make them feel good about something, they will grow up to support, and look forward to that special day, the day when they can be involved raising much needed funds for their favourite charity, we in the Uk have become a Nation of givers, always willing to help, give a little, and sometimes together raise a lot, I would like to thank Simon Gary, who gave £310 for my Unicorn playing shirt, which has helped Comic Relief to raise so far: £75,107,851.

Well, my thoughts about last nights PL, and the crowd (not all of them I add) really stoked up a few fires, Facebook, and Twitter messages coming well into the night, I like most of you, sat at home and watched, but I did get reports from the venue, and they where not nice, I admire the way the PDC and SKY carried on with the production, it would have been disastrous to stop, and for the record, many years ago at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Oldham, I was playing Cliff Lazarenko in the final of the BDO Dry Blackthorn Cider tournament, it was live on ITV, and there was 2000 people present, Blackthorn put the Cider on at just 50p per pint, a recipe for disaster, and it all kicked off half way through the final, Tony Green was the Caller, and he wanted to stop the match, both me and Cliff though it better to play on, keeping the TV Camera's on the match, and not the crowd, who where going at it big time, it worked, security managed to control the trouble, and when we finished the final it was all over, so you see guys, it does not matter who the organisers are, the problem will always be Alcohol, and the minority who let's face it cannot handle it, to top it all, bring two sets of football fans from the same City together in a confined space, and you have the right mix for mayhem, darts fans do not need segregating, sadly football fans do, and are, I just hope the guys who orchestrated last nights disturbance, have been photographed, and will be refused permission to any remaining, or future PL events, we can all keep quite, pretend it is not a problem, or we can face up to the fact, and do something about it, if nothing is seen to be done, I fear for the future, and the saftey of the real fans, who will begin to stay away.
