When Jody Gallchoir sent me a message on Twitter asking for advice, I was pleased to be able to pass on my interpretation of his problem, and offer a cure given to me by a Australian Sports Consultant, Jody's problem: I have a jump in my arm when throwing, and cannot find a natural rythm anymore, a few years ago while on tour in Australia, I had a similar problem, after a exhibition in Sydney, I was talking to a Sports Injury Consultant, he informed me after a examination of my arm, I had built up a solid ball of muscle through years of throwing, this was restricting me from throwing smoothly, It was a Stress Injury, he advised I get a water bottle, empty out the water, fill it with sand, then lay my arm flat on a table, palm up, put the bottle in my palm, hold, and then lift 40 times, leaving my elbow on the table, repreat every hour for as long as possible, I did this for a week, it did the trick, the muscle broke up, and the smoothness of my throw returned, It makes sense, throwing darts does not seem a physical act, but to repeat the action over and over for a few hours, multiply by days and weeks, months and years, it must have some effect, this simple excerise that can be performed anywhere helped me, I trust it will help Jody, of course I am only translating the few words Jody sent in his request, to be the cause of his problem, If you are having similar problems with the smoothness of your throw, try my cure, and let me know your progress.

I have received many request asking what is the most important I have learned throughout my professional dart playing career, simple: The Three P's, Practice, Patience, Perfection, and they come in that order, if you start with the right practice routine, and that means using all the dart board, not just the treble twenty, then take your game into competition, knowing you have the abilty to score and finish, you then need patience, results may not come over night, you have to look at any mistakes you may have made, usually missed doubles, change your practise to doubles only, this builds confidence, and when the results come, do not be satisfied, you must aim for the third P, perfection, keep this simple mind game with you, in the right order, the three P's if executed together will stand you well. I have used it throughout my career, and I know many Premier League Football Managers, use the same theory, Sir Alex being one of them.

My coaching manual: The Art of Darts, is going to be published on Ebooks, I was informed today by the publisher, that it is in the proof reading stage, any corrections needed will be made, and a publication date will then be given, this is great news for all the many people who have been asking me where they can purchase the book, which is now out of print in hardback form, the book is the ultimate compliment to my coaching app, for iphone and ipad, the app is simple to understand, and because it is visual, the instruction is instantly absorbed, and can easily be viewed time and time again, the book covers everything on the app, but in more detail, when the publication date is set, I will post on all my networking pages, I trust like me you will enjoy reading the book in conjunction with viewing the app, I know from the messages received from all parts of the Globe, The Art of Darts works.

When Bruce Spendley called game and match, in the Taylor v Van Gerwen world championship final, it was to be his last as a professional MC, Bruce, simply knew it was time for him to retreat, spend time at home with his family, and maybe reflect on the many memorable matches he has officiated over, I met Bruce almost 30 years ago, he was calling the scores for County Durham in County Matches, we became good friends, and remained so, when the breakaway from the BDO came about in 1993, Bruce recognised the potential that was presented, it was not guaranteed, and he knew it could have gone so badly wrong, but he followed his conviction, darts had a future, not only for players, but MC's, and score callers, he joined with the players on a very rocky road, not knowing if it would lead anywhere, he conducted himself with the professionalism, and respect he deserved, never one to look back, the future being of the utmost importance, Bruce was my MC for many years, on the Federation Road Shows, that toured the UK for over 15 years, his cool calm and clear voice, was a major factor in the show's huge success, Bruce never claimed to be anything other than the guy who introduced the players, and then called out their scores, it never became the Bruce Spendley show, he always gave the players the leading role, he was the ultimate professional, well deserving his induction into the PDC Hall of Fame, Bruce called time on his own career, and what a wonderful career it has been, a pleasure to know and work with someone who was the best, not only at conducting proceedures, but a truly great person.
